The
following are highlights from the
Winston County Board Of Education In attendance was Sheriff Ed Townsend who spoke on student drug use and the School Drug Policy. An overnight trip was approved for eligible student participants and Instructor, Bart Shannon to attend the State DECA Conference in Birmingham, February 21-22. Meek Schools were giving authorization to dismiss at 11:30 a.m. on March 18, 2005 to prepare for their annual Chitterling Supper. The following new employments were approved: Janet Baker as Nurse/Aide at Double Springs Elementary effective February 14, 2005; Emma Caldonia Alexander as Cosmetology Teacher at Winston County Technical Center effective February 11, 2005 for the remainder of the 2004-2005 school year; Bethany Hogan as Elementary Physical Education Teacher, Varsity Girls Track Coach, and volunteer Cheerleader Coach for the second semester of the 2004-2005 school year; Ann Harbison as Lunchroom Manager at Meek retroactive to February 1, 2005; Leeann Fuller as Lunchroom Worker/Assistant Manager at Meek effective February 21, 2005; Steve Lyon as Technology Technician effective February 14, 2005; and Greg Young as Special Education Bus Driver effective February 21, 2005. Spring Coaches/Supplements were approved as follows: Addison – Tommy Seymore, Jr. Baseball; Jeff Scott, Jr. Softball; Darrel Lee and Ronnie Wilson, Volunteer Coaches; Lynn – Jamie Lawler Jr. Baseball; Meek – Shane Waldrep, Bobby Smith, Donnie Price and Mike Ragsdale, Volunteer Coaches; WCHS – John Thompson, Jr. Baseball and Jenny Donaldson – Jr. Softball. Approval was given for the following items: Embedded Credits for the Winston County Technical Center; Lynn High School’s renewal of loan number 5600000604 with Traders and Farmers Bank in the amount of $7,000; and for revisions of the following policies: IHF/JFD – Alabama High School Graduation Requirements, JBDF – Early Warning Truancy Prevention Program, and JBDC – Truancy.
