Highlights from the 
Winston County Board Of Education Meeting
June 30, 2005 – 7:00 p.m.

The Board approved employment of Central Office Personnel for the 2005-2006 school year to be effective July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006. 

A transfer for Lisa Davis from Family and Consumer Science Teacher to full-time Library Media Specialist at Lynn High School was approved.

Resignations of the following personnel were accepted. Lel Speer, Shared Teacher at WCHS/Double Springs Middle School; Tracie Speer, Guidance Counselor, Winston County High School; Jennifer Waldrep, Teacher, Meek Elementary School; Alicia Riddle, Special Education Bus Driver

Accepted retirement of the following personnel: Ed Cagle, Special Education Bus Driver, effective September 1, 2005; Betty Townsend, Special Education Bus Aide, effective September 1, 2005.

Sonya Smith resigned as varsity cheerleader sponsor at Lynn School. (Her employment at Lynn School remains the same)

The following personnel were contracted to teach summer school: Barbara Slatton, Gina Courington, Rick White, Felechia Clingan, Crystal Beasley, Emily Gilbreath.

Roger Elliott was appointed as Designated Assistant Principal at the Winston County Technical Center. (There is no additional salary for Designated Principals)

Military Leave of Absence for Gary O’Gwin, Special Education Teacher at Meek High School, was approved. due to being ordered to active duty.

The following lunch and breakfast price for the 2005-2006 school year was approved.
Full Student price: 1.00 Breakfast and $1.75 lunch.
Reduced price: .30 cents for breakfast and .40 for lunch
Employees: $1.25 for breakfast and $2.25 for lunch.
Visitors: $2.00 for breakfast and $3.00 for lunch 

Payment was approved, in the amount of $6,359.00 to Alabama Association of School Boards for membership service fees and legal assistance fund for the fiscal year July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2006.

Accepted bid from Hager Oil Company for Gasoline and Diesel Fuel for the Winston County School Transportation Department for the period July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006.

Approved FY 05 Budget Amendment.

Approved employment (or transfer) of the following personnel for the 2005-2006 school year (or as indicated) Helen Cook, 2nd Vocational Bus Driver at Addison; Ken Ingle, 2nd Vocational Bus Driver at Lynn; Susan Frost, Special Ed Bus Aide/Substitute Driver; Brita McGee, Special Ed Bus Aide/Substitute Driver; Randy Lee, transfer from Addison Special Ed Bus Driver to County-Wide Special Ed Bus Driver, effective September 1, 2005; Teresa Jones, transfer from Meek Special Ed Bus Driver to 1st Vocational Bus Driver at Addison; Paul Wilson, Special Education Bus Driver at Meek; Glida Green, Special Education Driver at Addison; Phillip Keef, Teacher at Double Springs Middle School; Sandra Gaddy, transfer from Teacher to Guidance Counselor at Double Springs Middle School; Greg Gober, Shared Math Teacher at Lynn High School and Winston Co Tech Center; Mary Phillips, Band Director, Lynn Schools; Lisa Cagle, Elementary Teacher, Lynn Elementary School; Kim Smith, Elementary Teacher, Lynn Elementary; Jessica Capelton, Special Education Teacher, Meek High School (to fill military leave of absence of Gary O’Gwin while he is ordered to be on active duty); Terry Lewis, Automotive Technology Instructor at Winston County Technical Center; Bethany Hogan, Business/Marketing Teacher at Winston County Technical Center.
