What's Happening

We are very proud of the Sixth Grade Science Fair winners that represented
DSMS at the Winston County Science Fair.
Students were: Kady Bonds, Hunter Kilgore, Jonathan Baker, John Robert Garcia, and Jayden Hulsey.
Out of 20 participants, Hunter Kilgore received 3rd Place. He was awarded a plaque. Good Job, Mrs. Mullican and the Winston County Science Fair participants! -
Congratulations to Abby! Abby is the 2013 state winner of the ALFA/Farm City Essay Contest. She is an eighth grade student at Double Springs Middle School. After winning first place in Winston County, she represented the county at the state level. Her essay was first place out of forty-two entries from across the state. Along with her trophy, she won $300. Her English teacher Heath Hood also won $300 for his classroom. Abby and Mr. Hood are pictured at the ALFA awards luncheon in Birmingham.

Purpose Statement:
Double Springs Middle School is committed to the shared responsibility with home
and community for providing a safe, caring environment for the education of its
students. The faculty and staff strive to serve as an educational bridge between
elementary school and high school by providing opportunities for all students to
obtain a well-rounded education. This education should contribute to the
development of personal responsibility, a positive self-concept, and a
realization of individual academic potential with the goal of becoming a
life-long learner.
Winston County Schools Purpose and Direction:
The purpose of the Winston County Schools is to create excellence in providing youth with the encouragement, peer networks, and leadership skills necessary for them to make meaningful contributions to their communities and begin a life-long journey of leadership and service in the 21st century.
