Mr. Michael Johnson - Science Program (View
PhotoStory)
I Wonder What Would Happen if…
Michael Johnson, a science educator, from Joy Productions in Grayson, Georgia
came to Double Springs Middle School. He presented a program called “Science, A
Touch of Magic.” He used basic materials to show the magic of science.
The educational program was made available for the students by the DSMS Science
Department. Teachers are: Debra Curtis, Gina Courington, Jenny Donaldson, and
Mandy Wakefield. Principal Ben Aderholt said, “The students are still talking
about the exciting program.”
Michael Johnson opened the eyes of DSMS students and helped them experience
science in a hands-on approach to learning.
The program really touched the students. Here are some of their comments:
My favorite parts of the science program were the elephant toothpaste, the
floating ping pong ball, and the ivory soap thing. That was so cool!
Tori Frost – 6th Grade
I loved the science show. I liked how he made the soap rise and how he made the
different voices. He blew smoke at us and made the Barbie’s hair stand up with a
metal ball. It was the best show I have ever seen!
Levi Adair – 6th Grade
I loved the program. I really liked the part where you put plastic cups on kids
heads and shot them off with smoke. I also liked where you got the Ivory soap
and put it in the microwave and it blew up and looked like shaving cream. It was
awesome!
Timber Blankenship-6th Grade
The program was awesome. The thing I liked the best was the thing you did with
the Ivory soap. Also, the thing you did with the snow was really cool!
Ali Aderholt- 6th Grade
The show was great! I liked all of it especially the Ivory soap thing, the
garbage can shooter, the hot air balloon, and the magnets. I hope you come back
next year.
Trent Lewis – 6th Grade
I wanted to say you are an amazing scientist. I loved how you made the ivory
soap expand. The trash can part was quite exciting. I liked the floating ball
trick. Your science amazes me. I hope you can visit our school again.
Ashley Barton – 6th Grade
I really liked your program Mr. Johnson. I thought it was really cool. Science
has always been my favorite subject in school. I really liked the thing you did
with the cups. It was like target practice. I could actually see the rings of
smoke. I really need that hot air balloon. My sisters and I would have tons of
fun with it. Thank you for coming. I hope you come again.
Jennifer Lowery – 6th Grade
I loved the deeper voice thing. I also liked the trash can. That was BY FAR THE
BEST THING I saw. It was amazing how you layered the liquids. It was amazing how
they didn’t fuse. I also didn’t know that dollar bills are magnetic.
Ashton Taylor- 6th Grade
The science program was the best science program that I have ever seen and
experienced. I am so glad Mr. Johnson came to our school. I liked the ivory soap
thing the best of all. I went home and tried it that night.
Brooke Cagle – 6th Grade
Mr. Johnson, a science instructor, came to our school and showed us a lot about
science. My favorite part was when he took the trash cans and cut holes into the
bottom, and beat the tops, and blew cups off people’s heads. He even filled them
with smoke so we could see the air come out.
Matthew Tucker – 6th Grade
I thought that the program was really cool and a fun learning experience for
everyone about matter, mass, volume and electricity. My favorite experiment was
the one where
He made all of the liquids stack on top of each other. I also thought that the
one where he blew up Ivory soap was cool!.
Makenzie Chambless – 6th Grade
The science program was the best program that has ever come to our school. The
thing with the tennis ball and magnets was really neat. When you heated up the I
vory soap, that was really neat. I loved when you put cups on kids heads and
then took the garbage can and blew the cups off. Thanks so much for coming to
our school. It was awesome.
Erica Roberson – 6th Grade
October was Parent Involvement Month. The Double Springs Middle School invited parents to visit and have lunch with the students. View our PhotoStory
