Lynn Elementary hosted the final Winston County Professional Learning Community (WCPLC) meeting on February 22, 2007. The Alabama Reading Initiative has supported the interactions and collaborations of schools within a system. This year, each of the Winston County elementary schools hosted a meeting in which student data was evaluated, classrooms were visited, grade level data meetings were held, and ideas were developed for improving student learning and achievement across Winston County. Great academic strides are being made in Winston County!

Participants in the Lynn Elementary meeting included Dr. Martha Barber of the Alabama Reading Initiative, Superintendent Sue Reed, and Administrative Assistants, Dr. Sheila Wallace and Georganna Comeens. The principals and reading coaches from each elementary school in the county were also present. The focus of this meeting was on second grade, so several second grade teachers were also present. A student teacher from Addison Elementary also attended.

All in all, it was a great day....full of teamwork and learning!

The Lynn Elementary Faculty provided the resources for the refreshments, and Mrs. Lisa Baughn, elementary secretary organized, purchased and prepared much of the day's delicious food. Several Lynn Elementary teachers also brought a specialty dish.
