Publicizing Student Information

To recognize the great work our students do, the school occasionally publishes students' names, photographs, and/or achievements in school publications or posts them on our Web site. Students might also be videotaped during student performances and activates or details about students' achievements may be released to local newspapers, television, and radio stations. This information may become available to the general public.
If any student's parent/guardian prefers that the school does not publicize their child's name, photo, video image, or achievements, please notify the principal. If the principal does not receive a written statement from the parent/guardian, the school will assume it has permission to publicize this information.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Parents and students over 18 years of age have the right to inspect and review student's education records within 45 days of the date the school receives a request for access. Parents should submit to the school principal a written request that identifies the records they wish to inspect. The principal will make arrangements for access and notify the parent of the time and place where the records may be inspected.
Parents have the right to request the amendment of the student's education records that the parents believes are inaccurate or misleading. Parents may ask the school to amend a record that they believe is inaccurate or misleading. They should write the school principal, clearly identify the part of the record they want changed, and specify why it is inaccurate or misleading, If the school decides not to amend the record as requested by the parent, the school will notify the parent of the decision and advise them of their right to a hearing regarding the request for amendment. Additional information regarding the hearing procedures will be provided to the parent when notified of the right to a hearing.
