Mrs. Bethany Jordan, Counselor
bjordan@winstonk12.org

My name is Bethany McCay Jordan and I am the school counselor at Meek Elementary. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Alabama. I also earned a Master of Arts degree in school counseling from the University of West Alabama. My husband Jonathan is a business education teacher and coaches high school baseball. We have a daughter, Vivianna, who is 3. We are also expecting our 2nd child in March 2013. We currently live on Smith Lake, and are members of Farmstead Baptist Church. I am excited to serve at Meek because it is my alma mater.

First and foremost, we want your child to get the best possible education. A good education includes not only sufficient reading and math skills, but learning good social skills. This means, among other things, learning how to get along with other children, making good decisions, controlling anger, accepting responsibility, and being aware of strengths and weaknesses. Many of these skills are taught at home. It is my intent to supplement learning that takes place at home with small group and classroom guidance.

I am also in the building to help students who are facing particular difficulties. Such family disruptions as an illness, death, or divorce may affect children at school. If your family is experiencing anything out of the ordinary, feel free to let me know. I can be reached at 205-221-9425.
