Christmas Around the World - Canada

"Merry Christmas" or "Joyeux Noel" (zhwah-YUH noh-EL) from Canada!
Most people in Canada speak English or French.

Christmas trees are very important to people in Canada. Millions of trees
are sent to the United States each year. There is one very special tree
that is sent to Boston, Massachusetts each year. Ask one of us about it,
we'll be glad to tell you the true story.

Each of us drew a Christmas tree, colored it, and put it on the "Tree of
Cultures" to help us remember the Christmas trees in Canada.

The Nativity scene or creche (cresh) is also very important to people in
Canada. Miss Fulghum put a Nativity scene in our classroom, so we would
know what one looks like and what it represents.

We learned that many Canadians like to eat rice pudding as a holiday
snack, so Miss Fulghum brought some for us to try. Many of us had never
tried rice pudding before this "trip". Look at the pictures to see if we
liked it.
