of Champions for Superior Ratings for Band, Drum
Major, Colorguard, and Percussion at the
Southern Hospitality Marching Competition in
Hartselle, Alabama. The band received Best in
Class and the Challenge Cup.

Tennessee Marching Invitational in Muscle
Shoals, Alabama.

Marching Competition. They also received Best in
Class.

AHSAA State Cheerleading Competition on December
1, 2007!

2006-2007
Congratulations to the MHS Sr. High Scholars' Bowl team for representing the school well at the Bevill State Scholars' Bowl competition. The team, composed of Ben Tolbert, Chase Stephenson, Eric Smith, and Luke Bryant beat teams from Oakman, Corner, Curry, Sumiton Christian, and Walker to make it to the playoff rounds. Chase Stephenson was also selected for the All-Tournament team and was the 3rd highest scoring player during the morning
competitions.
Congratulations to Chase Stephenson for earning the title of Most Valuable Player in the Winston County Sr. High Scholars' Bowl Competition.
Congratulations to Luke Bryant for being selected as a Bevill State Ambassador for the upcoming 2007-2008 school year.
Congratulations to Devin Rivers for winning the state Ford AAA competition. He and another student from the Technical Center will be competing as a team at the national level June 24-26 in Dearborn, Michigan. Devin has been awarded scholarships totaling $39,000 because of this achievement.

MHS Science Olympiad students competed in the Regional Science Olympiad Competition on Saturday, March 3rd at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

A group of students from Meek High School recently competed in the Torch
Competition sponsored by Bevill State Community College (Jasper and
Sumiton campuses). Nine students from Meek High School placed 1st, 2nd,
or 3rd in their respective competitions. Students who placed 1st received
a $1,000 scholarship to Bevill State Community College. Congratulations,
students!

selected Good Citizenship Boy and Girl.
Congratulations to August's Students of the Month, Weston Cleghorn and
Elizabeth Vickery.
Congratulations
to Chase Stephenson, a junior at Meek High
School, for placing 2nd in the state PALS essay
contest. He will attend a banquet hosted by the
governor in November.
Congratulations
to Jason Trussell, a senior, for participating in
the Hawaii Classic, an all-star basketball
competition sponsored by TourneySport USA. He was
the only athlete from Alabama participating in the
competition. Teams were composed of seven to nine
players from all across the country, according to
positions played, statistics, and physical
requirements such as height, etc. Trussell’s
team placed fourth overall in the tournament.
Individually, he placed third in the dunk
competition and his team placed third overall in
the 3-on-3 event. Players were responsible for
their own expenses to attend the national
tournament, and Trussell would like to express his
thanks to all of his sponsors for their monetary
contributions which allowed him to attend.
Congratulations to Luke Bryant, a senior, for
being selected to attend the 2006 National Rural
Electric Cooperative Association Youth Tour in
Washington, D.C. Luke made the trip during the
past summer.
Congratulations to Ben Hamaker, Class of 2006, for
placing 1st in the district level of the Alabama
Penman Creative Writing Contest (Poetry Division).
