Congratulation to the Meek "Band of Champions" for receiving SUPERIOR RATINGS at the STATE Musical Performance Assessment.

Congratulations to Jonathon Farley, Taylor Wilson, Sarah Tingle,Carol-Lynn Owens, Audrey Yocum, and Chaselyn Langley for making All State. They will be participating in the All State Honor Band in Auburn. Sara Marquise, Alisha Barber, Sara Gladney and Michael Rickett made alternates.

Congratulations to Kayge Butler and her teacher Blythe Wilson. Kayge was awarded third place in the 2010 State Superintendent's Visual Arts Exhibit, Division 9-10. See news release...


Congratulations to all the students who participated in TORCH at Bevill State College February 2010. Sarah Tingle won first place in the grammar category. Brandon Ary won second place in the diesel mechanics category and Andi Gibson won third place in the public speaking category.

Congratulations to Meek FACS/FCCLA student Danielle Gibson, a sophomore, for placing 3rd in the State Beef Cook-off in Montgomery, AL on Saturday Jan. 16th. She competed against 17 others in her division. Danielle received $110.00, a t-shirt, apron, and recipe book. Her advisor is MaLea Ergle.


Summer Stewart, a 7th grader at Meek High School, is a competitive gymnast at Jasper Elite. She competed in the Alabama State Judge’s Cup on Dec. 13th in Tuscaloosa. She won all-around in her division with a score of 37.1 and placed 1st on the uneven bars with a score of 9.350. Summer qualified for the Alabama National Team in which she will compete in the National Judge’s Cup on Jan. 9th 2010 in Covington, Kentucky. There were six girls from across the state to make this team. After this competition, she will compete as a level 8 gymnast. She will be competing in Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana this season. Summer’s parents are John and Kellie Stewart of Arley.


Congratulations to Carol-Lynn Owens, Taylor Wilson, and Michael Rickett for their participation in the Jr. High UAB Honor Band.



Congratulations to Alex Gibson and Chaselyn Langley for their participation in the Sr. High UAB Honor Band.



Congratulations to Sean Hiller of Meek High School for being named a state finalist for the Wendy's Heisman Scholar Athlete Award.


The Meek Band of Champions competed at Hartselle on 10-03-09 and received superior ratings in all captions. The band was awarded best in class and the challenge cup.


Congratulations to Amber Peek and Katie Mauldin for winning 2nd place at nationals in FCCLA STAR Events. This was the second time these girls have made it to the national level. They are sponsored by FACS teacher Mrs. Ergle. Anna Mauldin also attended the convention.

Congratulations to Morgan. She is Winston County's Jr. Miss. She also won the essay portion, the self-expression portion, and the spirit of Jr. Miss award. She will be competing at the state level in January 2010.


Congratulations to Meek's math teacher Mrs. Ganey on being Winston County's Teacher of the Year!
