  Congratulations to Julia L. from Winston County High School. Julia is a 12th grader and placed 2nd in Business Office Management at the Hamilton Bevill State Torch Competition.

 

The National Technical Honor Society and Business Department students of Winston County Technical Center attended the "Get Motivated" Seminar at the BJCC. The seminar was on, February 7th, in Birmingham, Alabama. The students heard speakers that are nationally known. Students shown are from Addison High School and Winston County High School.

Four students from the Winston County Technical Center attended the 2010 state competition for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) April 15-16 in Birmingham. These students competed in cyber security, FBLA principles and procedures, personal finance, and spreadsheets. Students are Robert, Chelsea, Sabrina, and Allen.

Robert came in second in the state in cyber security and is eligible to compete at National's in Nashville.


Winston County Technical Center's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) sponsored the Fourth Annual Miss Free State of Winston pageant Saturday, May 1. Listed below are the following winners:

This year we had 21 students eligible to compete at the state competition in FBLA during Spring Break. We had 11 students who competed. The competitors are Sabrina Hollis; Suzanne Harper; Keisha Young; Hayden Boyet; Dakoda Walker; Robert Bryant; Andrea West; Starla Garrison; Hollie Chambless; Amber Wade; Tasha Young.
The events were: Personal Finance, Spreadsheet Applications, Community Service Project, Job Interview, Cyber Security, Word Processing II, and Marketing.



  Congratulations to Robert Bryant from WCHS for advancing to the National FBLA Competition in Anaheim, California this June.
Robert is a member of Winston County Technical Center's FBLA. His category for competition is Cyber Security. 

  Hollie C. (2nd place) and Amber W. (3rd place) from WCHS placed 2nd and 3rd at the Bevill State Community College Torch in Business Office Management & Technology. 

 
  Congratulations to Keisha Y., a 12th grader from Addison High School, Keisha was 2nd Place Bevill State Torch Winner- Business Office Management and Technology.
Keisha is president of the FBLA morning officers. 

On April 17-18, 2008 the Winston County Technical Center FBLA Chapter attended the State Meeting. At the 2008 State FBLA meeting, 11 students competed. The Community Service Project Team received 3rd place! All of the competitors did a great job! The events participated in were: FBLA Principles & Procedures, Spreadsheet Applications, Word Processing II, Economics, Cyber Security, Job Interview, Computer Applications, Business Presentation, & Community Service Project. Congratulations to all the state competitions!

Torch Competition 2008

Congratulations to Shawn M. who is a Senior from Lynn High School. He won the Hamilton Bevill Office Administration competition, 1st Place.


FBLA State 2007
Thirteen students attended the FBLA State Leadership Conference, April 12-13 at the Birmingham Sheraton. Eleven of these students competed at the state level. The following are Josh Everett-Job Interview, Kevin Higgins-Public Speaking II, Hollie Jacobs-Public Speaking II, Jimmy Moon-Digital Video Production, Margaret Moore-Computer Applications, Bo Steele-FBLA Principles & Procedures, Ethan Walker and Derek Williamson-Business Ethics, and Brittany Tynes and Andrew Ward -Multimedia Presentation. Hollie Jacobs was in the top six finalist for Public Speaking II at the state level. Bo Steele, Margaret Moore, Brittany Tynes and Andrew Ward were top six finalist at the regional level.

 

 


FBLA State 2006
The Future Business Leaders of America at Winston County Technical Center sent ten students to the state meeting in Birmingham, Alabama. The meeting was on April 6 and 7 at the Sheraton. Among the ten participants, there were six competitors. The students that attended the meeting were: Josh Everett, Meek High School; Shawn Mann, Lynn High School; Taylor DeSilvey, WCHS; Whitney Taylor, WCHS; Malarie Beasley, WCHS; Anna Smith, WCHS; Ethan Walker, WCHS; Nic Townsend, WCHS, Hollie Jacobs, WCHS; and Laci Tomlinson, WCHS. The competitors were: Anna Smith, Public Speaking; Josh Everett, Job Interview; Malarie Beasley, Marketing; Taylor DeSilvey, Ethan Walker, and Nic Townsend, Multimedia Presentation. The FBLA advisors are Latricia Faulkner and Bethany Hogan Flanagan.


FBLA members celebrated FBLA week Feb 7-11. Members participated in activities each day to bring attention to FBLA and some of the projects completed this year. On Friday, students "dressed for success".

During the week we reviewed projects undertaken so far this year which include: promoting leadership by attending a joint leadership conference in the fall at the BJCC in Birmingham; promoting good citizenship by having a canned food drive in November; promoting service to others by adopting a child at Christmas, sending cards to the nursing home, holding a blood drive for the Red Cross. 

Students who participated in the week's activities were eligible to win a savings bond provided by Trader's and Farmer's Bank.
