Description:
Engineers, architects, painters,
carpenters, plumbers, teachers, electricians, machinists, and homebuilders are
only a few of the people who use geometry in their daily lives.
Geometric principles are important in the construction of buildings and
roads, the design and use of machinery and scientific instruments, the operation
of airplanes, and the planning of new inventions plus many other activities.
Topics included in this course include:
points, lines, planes, and angles; connecting reasoning and proof; using
perpendicular and parallel lines; congruent triangles; quadrilaterals;
proportion and similarity; right triangles and trigonometry; circles; polygons
and area; surface area and volume; coordinate geometry; and loci and coordinate
transformations.
