Information: My mother, one of 13 children of Richard S. and Ada Taylor Godsey of Double Springs, was the first sibling in her family to graduate high school. She had to suspend her high school education for over a year, as she assisted her mother with illness and the younger children. Pernie's younger sister, Maudie, graduated WCHS in 1945. Maudie and Pernie were the last two living children. Maudie died as a result of an accidental house fire in 2010, and just ONE day later, Pernie, who had been under hospice care for two months, died at age 87.

My daughter, Kyndle Huey, is the assistant vice-president of marketing and communication at America's First Federal Credit Union. She has commented that WCHS has had stellar students involved in a program she helped construct with television station ABC 33/40....First Class Student. Thursday, April 25, 2013, she coordinated the First Class Student banquet at the McWane Center in Birmingham, AL. She again commented about the professionalism of the WCHS principal and the outstanding achievement of your 2013 student, Andrew Lewis.

I know my mother, Pernie Godsey, would be extremely proud of her granddaughter as well as the WCHS student winner!!!
