Bevill State Summer Honors Scholarship applications are now available at www.bscc.edu. Finishing 10-12 graders may apply. If awarded, the scholarship covers the cost of two classes to be taken during summer term 2014.

Wallace State Community College is offering finishing sophomores and juniors summer scholarships in career tech. programs during the summer term 2014. Students may earn 6 hours of college credit. This scholarship will pay for tuition, fees, and books. For an application, please see Mrs. Archer.

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program-High school seniors and current undergraduates who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry. To apply visit www.buickachievers.com.

J. Craig and Page T. Smith Scholarship-Smith Foundation scholarships are designed to help young Alabamians obtain a higher education and fulfill their personal goals to become leaders and give back to their communities. Qualifications include: 1) must be a graduating Alabama high school senior; 2) must have a minimum of a C+ grade point average; 3) planning to attend an approved 4-year public college in the State of Alabama-nursing majors may attend an accredited two year institution; and 4) significant contribution to family or community. There is no ACT minimum, however, the applicant must have taken the ACT or do so before an award can be made. Approximately 15 scholarships will be awarded in April. Three Meek High School students have been awarded this very prestigious scholarship since 2007. Applications are available now and the deadline is January 15, 2014. Playing with Purpose Award-The 2013-2014 Playing with Purpose scholarship program is now accepting applications and is open to sophomore, junior, and senior athletes who maintain a "C" grade average or higher. For an application, visit www.playingwithpurpose.org.

College Counts Scholarship-Applicants must be a high school senior, Alabama resident, demonstrate financial need, minimum GPA of 2.75, and have an ACT score of 26 or below. Applicants attending a two-year school will not be required to submit ACT scores. Award amounts are $4,000 for four-year college enrollees and $2,000 for two-year college enrollees. SunTrust Off To College Sweepstakes-Free to enter and eligibility is not based on GPA or financial need. There are fifteen chances to win and one winner will be chosen every two weeks from October to May. Enter online at offtocollege.info. Students may register after each completed drawing for the next scheduled drawing. Drawings will end on May 9, 2014.

Better Business Bureau Scholarship-Juniors and Seniors from Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan and Winston counties are eligible to submit applications for this scholarship. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded.

“A-Future” Alabama Future Technology Initiative-Scholarships will be awarded to selected students who participate in this initiative throughout the month of October. The program will take place at the Haleyville High School Science building during Saturdays throughout the month of October. To apply, email afuturetech@gmail.com with your detailed resume and/or your GPA, grade level (9-12 can participate), high school and extracurricular activities/work experience. The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. Prudential Spirit of Community Awards-Students in grades 7-12 may nominate themselves by completing and application and submitting to Mrs. Archer by November 5, 2013. Interested applicants should have an exemplary academic and community service record.
