IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM WINSTON COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF CHILD NUTRITION:

Parents/Guardians,

During the past two years, we have enjoyed serving our students breakfast and lunch at no cost. Unfortunately, due to current guidance from the USDA, we will no longer be allowed to serve free meals to all students during the 2022-2023 school year. With this in mind, you are encouraged to fill out the online free and reduced application for your family. Please be aware that all applications that have been completed and approved for the 2021-2022 school year will only carry over into the 2022-2023 school year for the first 30 days of school. In an effort to properly prepare for the upcoming year, and to avoid a lapse in food services to qualified students, we ask that you complete the form for this academic year if you have not done so already. Additionally, please remember that a new form must be completed at the start of each school year. It is important that every household complete this form annually.

Information received from these applications has a direct impact on other fund sources for the District. Please be assured that all information that is collected will remain confidential and will not be shared with the public. As a reminder, you may complete the application at www.myschoolapps.com.

If you have any additional questions, you may contact your local lunchroom manager for further information. You may also contact the Central Office at 205-489-5018 or email stownsend@winstonk12.org for further details. Please be assured that all meals will continue to be served to students at no-cost for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year regardless of eligibility. We appreciate your cooperation and the opportunity to serve the students of Winston County Schools.

Sincerely, Bart Shannon – Director of Child Nutrition
